Surface Profile Visual Comparators
Pocket sized reference plates used to estimate surface profile roughness
With the proper and effective preparation of a surface prior to coating it is essential that the correct surface profile or roughness has been achieved. Comparators are used for estimating surface profile on steel. There are two common types of comparators; the Steel Surface Roughness Comparators and the KTA Keane-Tator Surface Profile Comparators according to ISO.
Comparators are supplied in protective outer pouches and wrapped in oil free paper
Steel Surface Roughness Comparator for a comparison standard according to ISO 8503 part 1 made of quality steel. Indicates the surface condition of blasted steel according to ISO 8503 in grades of fine, medium and coarse. A four part square comparator made of quality steel. Available in model G for grit blasting and S for shot blasting.
KTA Keane-Tator Surface Profile Comparator for determining surface roughness by touch and sight. Conforms to ASTM D4417. The KTA standard has five different grades of roughness in a star shaped steel comparator and is available in three different versions. Sand, grit and shot.
